With the festive season finally here, and a calendar full of social events & parties, we find it’s always handy to have a few fool-proof Cocktail & Canapé favorites up your sleeve to set the party off!
Below we have rounded up some of our favorite Christmas tipples along with some easy-but oh so impressive morsels of loveliness.
Arancia Fizz: A festive twist on the classic mimosa
You will need:
- 1 scoop of Clementine Sorbet
- 15ml Cointreau
- 100ml Prosecco
In a coupe glass, pour in 15ml Cointreau, place the clementine sorbet on top & then pour over the Prosecco. Easy peasy!
Mince Pie Martini: The ultimate Christmas drink
This one can be made in a big batch meaning less time slaving & more time with your guests!
You will need:
- 400g Traditional Mincemeat
- 400ml Water
- 200g Sugar
- 200ml Gin
- 200ml Sweet Red Vermouth
- 40ml Dark Rum
Empty the mincemeat into a saucepan add the water & sugar. Place on a medium heat and gently reduce until the sugar has dissolved. Strain the liquid from the mincemeat & set aside to cool. In a jug mix the gin, vermouth and rum, add the strained liquid from the mincemeat.
This can be made a few days in advance, when your guests arrive add 75ml to a shaker with cubed ice & strain into a coupe glass.
Mulled Wine Sangria
This one can also be made in advance in a big batch with no fuss.
You will need:
- 1 Bottle of Red Wine
- 200ml Cranberry Juice
- 50g Frozen Cranberries
- 50ml Cointreau
- 50ml Brandy
- 2 Cinnamon Sticks
- 1 Orange – sliced in to round wheels
- 1 Apple – diced
In a large jug, add all the ingredients. Set aside until your guests are due to arrive. Add 2 scoops of ice and serve as required.
These are great to serve through out your party, it means guests can still mingle whilst having a small bite to eat. They are also very simple to make and have a whole host of toppings for you to choose from.
To make the crostinis, you will need:
- Ciabatta Bread
- Good Quality Olive Oil
- Salt + Pepper
- Greaseproof Paper
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees.
Take a Ciabatta and slice it into small slithers no more than an 1cm thick. Line a tray with greaseproof paper & place them onto the tray. Drizzle with good quality olive oil, salt, pepper and thyme. Place the tray into the oven & bake for 10 minutes. Once baked set aside and allow the crostini to firm up.
There are a whole host of toppings for you to choose from, here are a gew of our favourites:
- Chicken Liver Parfait & Damson Jam
- Gorgonzola, Walnut & Honey
- Parma Ham & Manchego
Smoked Salmon Blinis
Smoked salmon is always a favourite, especially around Christmas time. Impress your guests with these super simple cocktail blinis.
- Ready Made Cocktail Blini
- 250g Smoked Salmon
- 200g Cream Cheese
- 1 Lemon – zested & juiced
- Handful Fresh Dill – finely chopped
In a mixing bowl mix the cream cheese, lemon, fresh dill & season with salt and cracked black pepper. Spoon the mixture onto the blini and top with smoked salmon.
Sticky Chipolatas: who doesn’t love a chipolata at Christmas!
- 48 Good Quality Cocktail Sausages
- 2 Tbsp Sunflower Oil
- 3 Tbsp Clear Honey
- 3 Tbsp Wholegrain Mustard
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees. Pour the oil into a large roasting tin and heat in the oven for 3-4 minutes. Tip the sausages into the roasting tin and toss to lightly coat in the oil. Roast for 20-25 minutes and cooked through. While the sausages are cooking mix the honey & mustard in a small bowl. Pour over the sausages util they are coated. Return to the oven for a further 5 minutes & serve.
